SUMMARY

The goal of this project was to create the feeling of three-dimensions using two-dimensional cut out animation. The style is visually minimal, the shapes are mostly geometric and the color palate is vintage/retro. By using different and plug-ins through expression coding in Adobe After Effects I was able to give the characters more natural and organic movements than most cutout animations.

PROCESS

One of the more important steps of the production started by scanning the storyboards and drawn characters. After I had all the required images I produced the vector shapes in Illustrator and I imported all the vector shapes into Photoshop as smart objects, applied the colors and overlaid them with hundreds of different textures.
